Abstract

Core–shell structural SiO2@DNA–LDH nanocomposite was prepared via Layer-by-Layer assembly of exfoliated LDH nanosheets with DNA bio-molecules over the surface of SiO2 particles. Structural characterization data show that the obtained SiO2@DNA–LDH nanocomposite presented well-defined hierarchical core–shell construction with monodispersed SiO2 core covered with functional layered structural DNA intercalated LDH shell. The infrared emissivity value (8–14μm) of the SiO2@DNA–LDH nanocomposite is 0.458, which is much lower than the composites with DNA or LDH directly assembled on SiO2. The decrease of infrared emissivity values may be attributed to the synergistic effect and the interfacial interaction strengthened by the construction of the DNA intercalated LDH functional shell.
