Abstract

Abstract Co-based composites with in-situ formed SiO2 ceramic particles were prepared by preceramic polymer technology assisted of SPS at 1150℃ in vacuum. During sintering, the silicone resin transferred into the SiO 2 ceramic particles which existed in the gaps between Co-alloy particles. With the increase of silicone resin content, the number of pores among the Co-alloy particles gradually increased owing to the release of gases caused by the pyrolysis of silicone resin. However, it was interesting that the rockwell hardness of Co-alloy composites still increased with the increase of silicone resin content.
