Abstract

Abstract In this work, helical mesoporous silica fibers were prepared using cetylpyridinium chloride as a template, Fmoc-Ala-OH and 1-hexanol as organic dopants. FE-SEM images showed that right and left-handed fibers were acquired at the same time. After covering a layer of polydopamine followed by magnesiothermic reduction, C/SiC/Si composite fibers were produced with high specific surface area of 1110.10 m2/g. When applied in lithium ion batteries (LIBs), the composite fibers showed an outstanding discharge capacity of 724 mA/h/g after 900 cycles and well-performed rating capability, indicating that they are excellent candidate anode materials for LIBs.
