Abstract
TiAl alloy refined by Al2O3 whiskers was prepared by suction casting control technology. With the whisker toughening of initial whiskers and the intracrystalline strengthening of detached Al2O3 nanoparticles (NPs), the strength of the sample was increased to 3017 MPa. The refining mechanism, the strengthening and toughening effect of alumina whiskers and NPs on TiAl alloy are discussed.
