Abstract

Human hair is a waste material all over the world. It takes a long time to decompose naturally and hence it can also be related as a non- biodegradable fiber. As a whole, three to four tons of human hair is wasted annually in India, hence these are hazardous to the environment. Human hair consists of keratin, which is tough, insoluble and highly strong. Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is a linear polymer which is produced by copolymerization of ethylene with longer chain olefins. It possesses excellent flow properties and process ability with very high warpage resistance. When these two are fabricated together, it shows tremendous mechanical properties. In this research work, the aim is to fabricate a human hair reinforced Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) composite and study its various mechanical properties like tensile strength, impact strength and flexural strength. And hence we can finally determine its degree of commercialization and feasibility to be used as a new material. Moreover, this composite will be a best example of waste in use.
