Abstract

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) uses friction between metal parts and tools to obtain welded joints. The Aim of this work is to fabricate AA6061 aluminum alloy butt welded joint using FSW by adding copper powder. The copper powder particle was added to the gap between two plates and then the FSW was conducted. The welding specimens were joined at various rotational speeds of tool 450rpm, 600rpm, and 750 rpm at traverse speed of 44 mm/min. The effects of rotational speed of tool on microstructure and mechanical were discussed. The hardness was remarkably increased and the tensile strength was improved.
