Abstract

Spectral emittance of Au and dielectric (synthetic silica) multi-layer was investigated through experiment of emission of radiation under the condition of a temperature of 1003±3 K. A thin Au layer with a thickness of 1.9 μm was sputtered on the surface of the silica with thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mm. In the range of wavelength from 1.4 μm to 2.1 μm, the spectral emittance of the silica side surface agreed well with that of the Au side surface, i.e., around 0.038 which was higher than that of pure Au. On the other hand, in the range of wavelength of absorption band of silica, the spectral emittance decreased linearly with decreasing silica thickness. As a result, it was expected that the Au and silica multi-layer would be a candidate of substrate of meta-material resonators using both thin layers.
