Abstract

Evidence suggests that auditory hallucinations (AH) in clinical samples are predominantly negative in content. Whether this extends to visual (VH), tactile (TH), olfactory (OH), and gustatory (GH) hallucinations is unknown. Consistently negative content across modalities may indicate a common mechanism. To address this, we compared the degree of negative content and distress between hallucinations across sensory modalities.
