Abstract

The performance of a binary air-conditioning system, which consists of a mechanical vapor compression cycle and an adsorption refrigeration cycle, was investigated by simulation. The refrigerants of the mechanical vapor compression cycle and the adsorption refrigeration cycle are R 1234ze(E) and CO_2, respectively. The effects of the cycle time of the adsorption refrigeration cycle on the performance indices were predicted by considering the adsorption kinetics, and the optimum cycle time as well as the optimum intermediate pressure of the system were revealed in terms of the maximization of the specific cooling capacity.
