Abstract

Converting into electricity from the waste heat is especially effective for saving energy and reducing CO2 emission. In this study, the waste heat recovery system by Rankine cycle is developed, which utilize the waste heat of the internal combustion engine. In this case, small-scale power generation system which has high thermal efficiency and compact, low cost is requested. Therefore, the scroll expander for steam-Rankine cycle is developed, which has high efficiency even in the case of small-scale output. In this paper, small-scale power generation system by the waste heat and pilot test plant is introduced. Moreover, it's performance and characteristics is reported, and the application examples except for the waste heat of the internal combustion engine are described.
