Abstract

The 18F versus CH 4/C 3F 6 competitive system has been investigated using the moderated nuclear recoil (MNR) technique. No deviations from the 0.326 ± 0.004 mean k 273 C 3 F 6/ k 273 CH 4 value were detected within the range 95.0–99.95 moleXXX C 2F 6, suggesting that thermalized reaction conditions have been established. At readily accessible C 2F 6 concentrations thermal 18F reactive lifetimes can be maintained at values greatly exceeding hot-atom thermalization times.
