Abstract

The article devoted to the study of the refl ections of F.M. Dostoevsky and N.N. Strakhov on the “Polish question” as an important element of Russian historiosophy. It is shown that their refl ections on the “Polish question” go far beyond this particular topic and concern the most fundamental issues of Russian historiosophy. This is not only the question of the potential of sovereign Russian civilization, but also an even more ontologically signifi cant question about the value of the historical existence of a particular nation. The considered Russian texts are of particular value because these issues are revealed in them in a special existential tension and nakedness, and therefore serve as a kind of “canon” of Russian thought for the understanding of the sovereignty of Russian civilization.
