Abstract

The scientific point of view of F.G. Safronov on the problem of the formation of commodity-money relations in North-Eastern Siberia during the period of modernization of the Russian economy is considered. A brief biography of the scientist based on his personal diaries is given. It is noted that Safronov formulated the concept of the uniqueness of the development of commoditymoney relations in the economy of the indigenous population of North-Eastern Siberia, where there was no private ownership of land and fishing grounds. It is emphasized that a combination of factors, including the geopolitical status and activities of the Russian-American Company, determined the nature of trade and capital in the macroregion.
