Abstract

In this paper, we propose a design method that finds optimum sky-hook dampers in case that vehicles with the dampers pass over a trapezoid hump. The objective of the design is to minimize the maximum accelerations experienced by the passengers of a vehicle passing over the hump at a wide range of speed. As a result of the optimization, it is cleared that the maximum accelerations of passengers in case of the skyhook dampers are smaller than those in case of the passive dampers and semi-active ones.
