Abstract
Florentino Garcia Martinez's interesting contribution on the apocalyptic interpretation of Ezekiel in the Dead Sea Scrolls invited the author to reconsider the views on Ezekiel's prophecies about Israel's future. What are the expectations described in that prophetic book, and what are the differences between the shorter version and the longer one in these matters? In a search for answers to these questions, the well-documented dissertation of P. Schwagmeier is to be taken into account, as well as the most recent PhD thesis of A.S. Crane and S. Scatolini's essay on Ezek 36-39. Masoretic Text and in its early translations, including the Septuagint as printed in its critical editions. This chapter discusses the shorter version in the Old Greek and to its presumed Hebrew Vorlage and compares it with the longer version in the Masoretic text. Then it elucidates the motivations behind these differences.
