Abstract

On the basis of behavioral analysis the following functions are assigned to the eyes of adult female Tetranychus urticae (Koch). The scanning anterior eyes have receptors for both the near ultraviolet and green spectral regions. The posterior eyes have a receptor for the near ultraviolet spectral region. A logic, based on behavioral responses, is postulated for the interaction of these receptors.
