Abstract

In this paper we address iterative cancellation schemes regarding the inter-cell interference in cellular multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems for the downlink. The described and investigated inter-cell interference cancellation (ICIC) concept is based on the use of the log-likelihood ratios (LLRs) from the decoding process. This approach shows significant performance gains in the severe cell border area. The soft inter-cell interference cancellation scheme can approach the single-user bound, and therefore, eliminates almost the interference at the cell border. Further, we investigate the mutual information exchange between the inner and outer decoder with extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts to analyze the convergence behavior.
