Abstract
Spanish criminal and penitentiary legislation and practice relating to the crime of terrorism have undergone a further notable expansion with the emergence of jihadist terrorism. This article demonstrates how legislation and practice in this area are characterised by an expansion of punitive measures motivated by an obsession with ideology, an excessive concern for radicalisation in prison, the abuse of criminal or administrative deportation, and the existence of a special regime, designed for nationalist terrorism, which often makes no sense in its application to jihadist terrorism.
