Abstract

The one-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equation for a superconducting half-space in a parallel magnetic field H o > H C2 have been solved numerically in order to determine the extreme or “critical” currents in the surface sheath. A comparison to earlier calculations shows that the asymmetry of the critical current can be much greater than previously reported.
