Abstract

Abstract. There are a number of conflicting works regarding electrocardiographic predictors of atrial fibrillation (AF) among which extrasystoles (ES) stand out but there is no reliable data on which ES variants may be considered a risk factor; Aim: to identify the relationship between ES and AF. Materials and methods - analyzed 3927 publications from which we identified 46 foreign works that fit our topic. Results - ES can be considered as one of the main predictors of the occurrence of AF since the relationship between ES and AF has been confirmed; additional studies are needed to identify hemodynamic features during ES and to explain the possible mechanism of the occurrence of AF. Conclusion. The data obtained allow us to consider ES as one of the main predictors of the development of AF. An increase in the number of supraventricular and ventricular ES in the anamnesis of patients with AF indicates their relationship.
