Abstract

This study described a 36-year-old woman who was diagnosed with posterior mediastinal spindle cell tumour. She underwent chemo-radiotherapy with untoward effects of increase in tumour size with possible involvement of the descending thoracic aorta. She underwent extensive surgical treatment with extra-pleural and intra-pericardial pneumonectomy as well as replacement of the descending thoracic aorta. In addition, she also underwent postoperative chemo-radiotherapy. She has been well for the last 13 months and there is no evidence of recurrence of the disease.
