Abstract

A study of the magnetic properties and their relationship with the magnetoelastic properties of amorphous (Tb0.3Dy0.7)40Fe60 films prepared by dc magnetron sputtering is presented. The magnetostrictive coefficient λ reaches values up to 300ppm in a field of 0.1T. At low temperatures the films present spin-glass behavior with Tf≅160K. At room temperature the films show low coercivity values, less than 30mT, whereas at temperatures below 40K huge coercivities are observed which reach values up to 2.5T at 5K.
