Abstract
Cysticercosis is a systemic illness caused by dissemination of the larval form of the pork tapeworm Taenia solium. Encystment of larvae can occur in almost any tissue. Involvement of the central nervous system (CNS) known as neurocysticercosis (NCC) is clinically the most important manifestation of the disease. Cysticercosis of other tissues is almost always asymptomatic. We report this case because of the diagnostic dilemma faced while evaluating this patient who had multiple swellings resembling lymph nodes in the neck. The commonest cause of cervical lymphadenopathy in India is tuberculosis and cysticercosis is a most unusual cause for neck swellings though easy to diagnose if a systematic approach is followed.
