Abstract

We evaluated the liquid vermicompost extracts and fractions of humic substances in biostimulus and bacterial spot control in tomato plants. Unfiltered crude extract of liquid vermicompost (UFCE), filtered crude extract (FCE), humic acid (HA) and fulvic acid (FA) were sprayed on tomato leaves before the Xanthomonas hortorum pv. gardneri inoculation. Plants sprayed with HA showed the lowest bacterial spot severity. Defense enzyme activity increased 3 times in plants treated with HA. HA were the most active fraction in promoting growth with greatest increases in roots biomass and nitrate reductase enzyme activity.
