Abstract

Palladium distribution between a hydrochloric acid solution and hexamethylene-1,6-bis[(N′-benzoyl)thiourea] (I) or several monodentate thiourea derivatives in chloroform is studied. The increasing number of thioamide groups in the molecule of compound I increases its palladium extraction ability. Palladium is transferred to the organic phase in the form of a complex with the palladium:compound I = 1:1 stoichiometry. The usability of compound I for selective extraction of palladium from hydrochloric acid solutions is demonstrated.
