Abstract

This paper focus on the application of all-phase fast fourier transform(apFFT) for noncontact vital signs based on frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radar. The principle of FMCW using fast fourier transform(FFT) to extract phase is briefly described. A more accurate vital sign extraction algorithm based on apFFT is proposed and compared with traditional FFT. The experimental results demonstrate that when the planar target produces an unavoidable random body movement(RBM), apFFT is better than FFT in extracting vital sign signals.
