Abstract

Synthesis methods and the phase composition of Zn,Al and Mg,Al double layered hydroxides intercalated with citrate ions and their magnetic nanocomposites are described. It is shown that the ultrasonic processing of magnetic sorbents results in that the structure of the interlayer spaces is ordered. A study of the sorption extraction of U(VI) with these materials demonstrated that cations typically contained in natural water (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+) hardly affect the extraction of U(VI) from aqueous media in contrat to HCO3– anions and humic acids. The most effective removal of U(VI) from aqueous media is observed for the citrate form of the Mg, Al sorbent in a wide range of pH values (2.5–9.0).
