Abstract

Abstract A systematic study of membrane-assisted extraction of naphthenic acids from hydrocarbon fractions by aqueous caustic soda using both porous and nonporous membranes is reported. The effects of hydrodynamic factors, concentration of naphthenic acids and caustic soda, and temperature on the transmembrane flux are discerned.
