Abstract
1. It was shown that indophenol formed by the action of sodium hypobromite on ammonium salts in presence of phenol can be extracted from aqueous solutions with organic solvents. 2. The extraction of indophenol opens up new possibilities in the application of the phenoxide-hypobromite reaction to the quantitative determination of ammonia in a great variety of materials requiring analysis.
