Abstract

The batch experiment has been carried out to determine the possibility of using extractants supported by several inert carriers for sorption of technetium(VII) from different aqueous solutions. Several extractants with considerably low solubility in aqueous solution have been investigated. Solubility of TBP in water is 0.4 g/L, the solubility of TOPO is lower, 1.5 mg/L, and it has a negative temperature coefficient [1]. The extractants were dissolved in cyclohexanone and known amount was dried together with the supporting inert grains chosen as the bed material, proved to be poor sorbents for technetium (Polisorb-1, Chromosorb W, etc., of 45–60 mesh). The prepared sorbent was contacted with the technetium solution of different composition (Vsup=1 mL, Vextr=0.05 mL, CTc=10 mg/L). The alkaline solution was chosen to simulate the typical radioactive wastes CNaNO3=200 g/L, [NaOH]=16 g/L, [Na2CO3]=6 g/L, [Al]=3 g/L.
