Abstract
The connection between the true vibrational density of states and that measured in inelastic neutron experiments is derived for multicomponent systems. The resulting correction function is related to the relative partial vibrational densities of states. For two structural models (vitreous silica and vitreous germania), this function is calculated and used for a comparison of the calculated and the experimental vibrational densities of states.
