Extracting characteristics of plates, pots, and vases in molding process: an attempt of creating a simple model

Abstract

Abstract This paper converted the process of forming plates, pots, and vases into data with eye gaze measurement and created a simplified model. The purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between the differences in the shapes and the molding process by using the model, finding the points a potter should be aware of during the molding. The results show that there would be more molding procedures depending on the complexity of shape, within a limited time. We also gained clues on how to evaluate and generalize the difficulty in molding.
