Abstract

Raphanus raphanistrum peel waste extract is utilized for the biological synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) and gold nanoparticles (Au Nps). UV-Visible spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction analyses are performed to characterize NPs. Further, the catalytic behavior of prepared NPs is elucidated against methylene blue and congo red as model pollutants in the presence of sodium borohydride as a reducing agent. Au NPs have degradation efficiency of 66% and 61% against methylene blue and congo red which is higher than Ag NPs which shows 28% and 25% respectively
