Abstract
A method for the calculation of the radiation dose rate to extracorporeal blood flowing through a cylindrical beta irradiator is developed. Turbulent and laminar blood flow are treated separately. Sample calculations of the absolute and normalized dose rate profiles in several idealized strontium-90 irradiators are presented.
