Abstract

Background and Aims: Despite arterial conduits for the CABG surgery demonstrate significantly better long-term patency than vein grafts, the lack of molecular explanation behind this phenomenon limits their use for myocardial revascularisation. We have earlier shown that co-culture of primary human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAEC) with internal thoracic artery ECs (HITAEC) results in mutually beneficial paracrine interactions as compared to the co-culture of HCAEC and saphenous vein ECs (HSaVEC) and suggested that these effects are specifically mediated by extracellular vesicles (EVs).
