Abstract

Extracellular DNA In article number 2103693, Li-na Niu and co-workers discuss a fascinating novel function of extracellular DNA as mineralization initiators in ectopic calcification. Extracellular DNAs regulate matrix calcification outside cells and participate in extracellular mineral nucleation and collagen mineralization. This significant discovery enables facile preparation of biomimetic hybrid materials for tissue engineering and provides a potential solution for treatment of diseases associated with ectopic mineralization.
