Abstract

Humes et al. formally performed the extracardiac conduit total cavopulmonary connection in 1988; Marcelletti reported and popularized this surgery. After 1988, especially in the late 1990s, the proportion was increasing the usage of the extracardiac conduit. The conduit of the Gore-Tex with the reinforcing ring was usually employed. Considering the absence of growth potential, Hvass designed and used autologous pericardium patch as extracardiac conduit in total cavopulmonary connection in 1992.
