Abstract
This study shows that acoustic streaming in a microfluidic channel filled with second-order fluids can be enhanced or suppressed just by regulating the relaxation time of the fluid. Remarkably, the acoustic radiation force remains unaltered by the change in fluid rheology. These fundamental insights are helpful in selecting appropriate fluids for acoustophoretic particle manipulation processes and thereby protecting acoustofluidic devices from being impaired by uncontrolled streaming.
