Abstract

Tuberculosis is a contagious disease that plagues a multitude of nations. Currently it is the highest cause of death related to infectious disease. Despite a low presence in the United States, a growing trend of more complicated cases of tuberculosis continue to affect individuals in correctional facilities. Although therapy is straightforward, it is concerning that individual who enter correctional facilities face greater exposure to tuberculosis and these worsening complications. This report highlights such a case in a patient with an extrapulmonary mycobacterium tuberculosis infection of the spine with intracranial lesions.
