Abstract

This paper reports an exergo-economic evaluation of an externally fired biomass gasification-based plant. Effects of major design and operating parameters: pressure ratio (rp), gas turbine inlet temperature (TIT) and cold end temperature difference (CETD) of the heat exchanger (HX), on the plant performance are reported. Parametric optimisation has also been attempted. The study reveals that, higher rp and lower TIT result in higher unit product cost of the plant. Also unit product cost decreases with increase in CETD of the HX. It is further observed that levelised unit cost of electricity is minimised at a particular combination of the parameters.
