Abstract
The beginning students in ophthalmology, not to mention the resident and practitioner, have long felt the need for a concise reference work which will bring them up to date on bacterial, viral, and mycotic infections of the eye. The new terminology has made the old books, such as that of Axenfeld, obsolete. The standard texts on general microbiology usually do not describe the ocular manifestations of invading organisms. Dr. Fedukowicz, whose wide and intensive experience as microbiologist to the eye service at New York University-Bellevue Medical Center fully qualifies her for the task, has produced a first rate volume which will go far toward filling a serious need. The text is concise, readable, and helped immeasurably by the author's clinical comments. The artist, Mrs. Beatrice Grover, is particularly to be commended, not only for her individual slit-lamp and microscopic drawings, but also for the arrangement and presentation of all the
