External Funding ِAgencies for Scientific Research in Egypt

Abstract

The study seeks to identify the most external funding bodies for Egyptian literature. A total of 15,762 Egyptian articles, funded by external funding bodies, published between 2009 – 2018 were collected from the Web of Science database. The result shows that GRF (DE) is the most funding bodies for faculty of science researchers. The materials science and physical chemistry are the most funded subjects. Regarding medical Faculties, the NIH (USA) and NIHR (UK) are the most funding agencies in this sector, and the oncology and ophthalmology is the most funded subject. In the faculties of pharmacy, the NIH (USA) and GRF (DE) are considered the most funding agencies for researchers. The pharmacy & pharmacology and medical chemistry are the most funded topics. While NSERCC (CA) and NNSFC (CH) are the most funding agencies for engineering researchers. The electrical engineering and materials science are the most subjects. The JSPS (JP) and JMECSST (JP) are the most funding agencies for veterinary researchers, and veterinary sciences and biochemistry are the most funded subjects. With regard to Faculties of agriculture, the NNSFC (CH), USDA, and DAAD (DE) are the three largest funding agencies for researchers in faculties of agriculture. The subjects of Plant science, food science and technology are the most three funded subjects in faculties of agriculture.
