External beam radiotherapy and interstitial implant boost in early oral cavity cancer: Experience of initial 23 consecutive cases from a new brachytherapy center in India

Abstract

Purpose: HDR brachytherapy is an effective and useful method of treatment in early head & neck cancers. However, in developing countries like India, there are few centers with sufficient experience and expertise on its use with acceptable outcome. The aim of this study is to evaluate the early toxicity and control rate of initial consecutive patients from a relatively inexperienced center.
