Abstract

High performance fiber-reinforced cement composite (HPFRCC) exhibits several desirable characteristics, such as strain-hardening, multiple fine cracks, energy dissipation and crack damage tolerance. These attractive properties have allowed the industry and researchers to apply HPFRCC mixtures successfully to various concrete structures. This paper presents the results of HPFRCC research efforts that range from the study of fundamental properties to practical applications for reinforced concrete structures in South Korea. The findings of this study indicate that HPRFCC can be used to retrofit reinforced concrete structures and to enhance their strength, ductility and seismic performance.
