Abstract

A case of an extensive congenital bilateral verrucous epidermal naevus syndrome is reported from Nigeria. No naevus cells were detected by both tight and electron microscopes. There was an exuberant epidermis with ultrastructural abnormalities of Leratinocuc degeneration in upper stratum spinosum, accumulation of highly electron–dense amorphous keratohyaline granules, and absolute deficiency of fibrous substance of intermediate‐cell type in the stratum granulosum and the cornified layer.
