Abstract

Motivated by the studies on fractals that involve equilateral triangles, equi-triangular arrays composed of labelled equilateral triangles have been considered. Context-free and regular equi-triangular array grammars for the generation of picture languages of equi-triangular arrays have been recently introduced. Here we introduce two extensions of regular equi-triangular array grammars and show that the resulting families of picture languages strictly include the family of regular equi-triangular array languages but are included in the family of context-free equi-triangular array languages. The results constitute a new contribution strengthening the study of picture languages of equi-triangular arrays.
