Abstract

Our method of isotopic elementary analysis has recently been applied to the determination of oxygen in metals. It is now extended to the determination of oxygen in titanium in the low range of 0.04 to 0,2 weight percent oxygen. The method has the great advantage that it gives quantitative results without a quantitative separation of oxygen in any form. In the samples analyzed it was found that the alternative vacuum-fusion method gives results which are 9–13% too low.
