Abstract

Reactions that provide “complete spectroscopy” are very important. Average resonance neutron capture (ARC) has been shown to yield complete sets of (usually) low-spin states below a certain energy. It is shown how the concept of completeness can be extended to charged-particle fusion reactions, which can probe nuclei at higher spins and further away from the line of stability.
