Abstract

Bairstow's Method loses its quadratic rate of convergence when finding a quadratic factor with multiplicity greater than one. Two adaptations are suggested which restore this convergence rate, and an example is given. One of these methods has application in finding multiple quadratic factors using interval arithmetic.
