Abstract

An extension of the analytical solution for reversible polarographic current in the case of first-order coupled homogeneous chemical reaction is reported for the planar diffusion model. This solution could be used for theoretical predictions in the case of different diffusion coefficients of species involved in homogeneous reactions and is restricted to the low stability of the electroactive intermediate. The solution could be used to describe simple electroanalytical experiments on stationary electrodes of negligible curvature or for the derivation of small-amplitude components in ac and pulse polarography.
